This Christmas

“Believe in what you feel inside And give your dreams the wings to fly, you have everything you need, if you just believe”. –Believe, Josh Groban

Have you ever really thought about Christmas?

Christmas is the time of Christ’s birth, but the Christmas spirit carries on all year-long for those who truly believe. You may not believe in the religious holidays of Hanukkah, Christmas or Kwanzaa and yet you still celebrate the spirit.

In the song, Spirit of the Season, by Alan Silvestri you can feel it in the air and everywhere:

The Christmas season isn’t about shopping, santa, sending out cards, decorating a house with a tree and twinkling lights, or baking the perfect treat. It’s about love, warmth, spending time with family and friends, and reliving memories. It’s about remembering loved ones who are no longer able to be physically present for the holidays, but who we carry in our hearts.

Unlike adults, children hardly see the “real” santa and don’t need to since they just believe. They believe he is real because of what adults, books, movies, and music have told them. They get excited around Christmas time for santa to bring them gifts since they were good all year and are on the nice rather than naughty list. They write santa letters and are happy with what santa brought for them. They believe with their hearts.  They believe in their dreams.

As we grow older, we lose the magic that goes along with santa and we shouldn’t. Though our wants and situations change, our hearts don’t. We feel loved by those who surround us, those who are present in our lives, and the family and friends who always remain a part of us, in our hearts for eternity. This year, let us all be grateful for everyone in our lives. Let us appreciate those who have been a part of our journeys. Let us welcome into our hearts new family and friends. Take a minute or two and thank santa, God, mother nature, and everyone we believe in for everything we believe in. Without them, we wouldn’t be able to celebrate life, love, and happiness.

Let us hold the spirit of the holidays in our hearts forever.

Merry Christmas Everyone Everywhere
