Think About It

“A wonderful fact to reflect upon, that every human creature is constituted to be that profound secret and mystery to every other.”  ―Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

Everyday, during parts of our waking hours, we converse with other people in different ways. Through phone and in-person conversations, texting, emailing, blogging and posting on social media, we communicate.

  • Have you ever considered how each form of communication relates to another?
  • Have you ever said/read something to mean one thing, but the interpretation became something totally different?
  • Have you ever thought about how your words might impact the other person/people?

I didn’t think so!!

This phrase came to mind: “One persons trash is another persons treasure”. This means that something one person considers worthless, just might be considered valuable by someone else. Words can have so many meaning in lots of contexts. This sets the tone for the message interpretation. If you aren’t actually speaking to the other person/people you don’t always know what the other party is actually saying.

Every relationship, of any sort, for any duration, must have quality communication in order to function correctly. Without it creates a dysfunctional relationship.

Think about it.

In what direction is your relationship headed? Where is your communication level at?
